The Black Hole Theatre is the fully functioning practical branch of the Theatre Program at the University of Manitoba. Staging three full mainstage shows and five smaller scale shows (known as Lunch B.H.A.G.Gs) the Black Hole Theatre allows faculty, students and BHTC members to work, both onstage and backstage, on full-scale productions.
Students from all levels of the theatre program act, direct, and participate in the shows for the season while the backstage students set the stage, cue the lights, and make sure each show runs on a professional standard.
The auditions for all Black Hole Theatre shows are open to the public (with perference given to the acting pool at the BHTC). Shows are often cast with alumni, upper level students and students enrolled in the Introduction to Theatre (THTR 1200) class.
The Black Hole Theatre provides members with a uniquely comprehensive and professional experience and aims to ensure that audience members engage with interesting, provocative, student-led theatre.
